Keep Your Personal And Professional Life Separate Online

Writer: Marianne Cooper-vd Veen Marianne Cooper-vd Veen

I can't stress this enough because I see it on social media all the time: your (future) clients DO NOT NEED TO KNOW what you had for dinner last night or that you're sad because your girlfriend broke up with you. It's toe-curling and awkward... So please think before you ink!

How?

  • Set up a business account, keep your privacy settings on 'Public' and use it as an online portfolio. Your professional network can be crucial when it comes to your success. Be wise and keep it strictly business, people are ruthless!

  • Keep a personal account for friends and family only and make sure you adjust the privacy status to 'Private' or 'Friends Only.' If you really want to vent... Do it here!

Keep your personal and professional life separate online. Is it business, or none of your business?
