Hey!

I'm Marianne Cooper-van der Veen

All-round Communications Professional based in Los Angeles

In a nutshell, I'm passionate about improving organizational effectiveness through strategic communication.

I'll help you to build a strong online presence for you & your business!

I was born and raised in the Netherlands and moved to Los Angeles, CA, in 2019. What they say about Dutch people is true: I'm straightforward and down-to-earth, but my words always come from the heart!

I've earned a degree in both International Business Studies and in Communications.

Throughout my career I've had a taste of various fields of communication. I'm an experienced communications specialist, member of editorial staff, reporter, e-commerce copywriter/editor, translator (Dutch/English and vice versa), Wix Web-designer, social media advisor, published poet/author of the book "Two Worlds, Two Loves, Two Stories" and I can be found in the anthologies "Voices" and "Motivating Our Youth."

My clients vary from people in the entertainment industry, entrepreneurs in all possible fields, (semi)government organizations, retailers, lawyers, and everyone in between.

I'm a dedicated fighter for social justice and therefore have worked on projects like “Polarization and Radicalization in Society” and the final editing of the book “Awareness”, which was about discrimination in the city that I'm from, Groningen (NL).

What I'm up to at the moment?

I work as a bilingual content writer (Dutch) for Monster Worldwide. On top of that, I'm working on projects as a freelancer here and there:

* My husband Deon “The Director” Cooper and I create video autobiographies called "Captured Heirlooms" that can be passed down from generation to generation, so that future generations will know about their ancestral history.

* I'm super excited that my love for documenting stories also evolved into my own show on YouTube called "Life Stories with Marianne"!

* You also might recognize me as a former co-host on the podcast "I'm Just Sayin'" with the late and great fighter for social justice, Dionne Johnson. I also worked as the Communications Director of SS Dionne Productions. We produced two shows, called “I'm Just Sayin'” and “Can You Handle The Trouble?”, find them on YouTube! I also have been honored by SS Dionne Productions with the Pearl Jam Women of Empowerment Award in 2021 for the work I've done to empower and enhance my community. Dionne, you are truly missed.

* Last but not least, not too long ago I've had a taste of script writing in Final Draft, and I worked as an executive producer of the series "Meal Ticket", by Deon "The Director" Cooper. Click here to watch the first 3 episodes for free on YouTube!

Whether I'm interviewing, writing, editing, creating websites in Wix, working on social media strategies for clients from all walks of life... I love what I do!

When I'm not working you can find me discovering and exploring the outdoor diversity that California has to offer together with my husband and our dog Midnight, or I'm enjoying a yoga or CrossFit workout.

I'm open to new opportunities, networking, and I'd love to learn more about you, so let's connect!
