I’m Marianne Cooper-van der Veen - Communications Specialist in Los Angeles

I help turn ideas and information into content people can find, understand and use. My work has evolved alongside the way people discover information, from traditional search to the growing role of AI.
 

Originally from the Netherlands, I moved to Los Angeles in 2019. I’ve always carried a little bit of my Dutch directness with me, and it’s shaped the way I communicate: honestly, thoughtfully and without unnecessary fluff.
 

I hold degrees in International Business and Communications and have worked across communications, editorial, translation, social media and media production. My experience includes communications for public-sector organizations as well as work with small businesses, media projects and creative teams. Today, I work as an SEO Editor at Indeed, creating and optimizing Dutch-language content for the recruitment and career space. I focus on search intent, editorial quality and AI/LLM visibility to help content reach job seekers and employers when they’re looking for answers.
 

Being bilingual in Dutch and English has been an important part of my career. I’ve worked with translation and localization throughout my career and understand that communicating across languages requires more than translating words.
 

Storytelling is another part of what I love to do. I’m the host of Life Stories with Marianne, where I interview people about the experiences that have shaped their lives. I also contribute to Radio for the World, supporting digital content and production to promote independent artists.

Outside of Work

When I’m not working, I’m usually enjoying the California coast with my husband and our dog, Midnight 🐾 I enjoy staying active, discovering new places, finding good food and inevitably going down an internet rabbit hole about whatever catches my curiosity.
