Hey!
I'm Marianne Cooper-van der Veen, Dutch communications professional based in Los Angeles
In a nutshell, I’m passionate about cultivating collaboration and engagement through effective communication, fostering connections, and interviewing people to uncover their life stories.
Born and raised in the Netherlands, I moved to Los Angeles in 2019. True to the Dutch reputation, I’m straightforward and down-to-earth, but always speak from the heart.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked in various fields of communication. As an experienced communications specialist, I’ve held roles such as editorial staff member, reporter, e-commerce copywriter/editor, translator (Dutch/English), Wix web designer, social media advisor, and published poet/author of Two Worlds, Two Loves, Two Stories. My work has also been featured in the anthologies Voices and Motivating Our Youth.
I hold degrees in both International Business Studies and Communications, and my clients included entertainment professionals, entrepreneurs, (semi)government organizations, retailers, and lawyers. No matter your industry, I’m here to help you build a strong online presence for both you and your business!
I’m also a passionate advocate for social justice, contributing to projects like Polarization and Radicalization in Society and editing the book Awareness, focused on discrimination in my hometown of Groningen (NL).
Currently, I’m working on several exciting projects:
-
I’m a bilingual content writer (Dutch) for Monster Worldwide.
-
I host my own YouTube show, Life Stories with Marianne, where I document inspiring stories of purpose and connection.
-
Alongside my husband, Deon “The Director” Cooper, we create Captured Heirlooms, video autobiographies designed to preserve ancestral history for future generations.
-
I was a co-host of the podcast I’m Just Sayin’ with the late and great Dionne Johnson, where I also served as Communications Director for SS Dionne Productions. I’m proud to have been honored with the Pearl Jam Women of Empowerment Award in 2021 for my work to uplift my community.
-
I dipped into scriptwriting, and worked as an executive producer for the series Meal Ticket, created by Deon Cooper.
Whether I’m interviewing, writing, or editing, I love what I do!
When I’m not working, you can find me exploring the beautiful California outdoors with my husband and our dog Midnight, or enjoying a yoga or CrossFit workout.
I’m always open to new opportunities, so let’s connect and collaborate!
